Default My Grandpa WWI

Not much background information other than WWI and he lived north end of Toronto. He enlisted but they found out he was underage so never made it overseas. Any clues?

Hi Mike

Nice pic.

Clues about what?

What was his full name? There may be a file online.

regards
Darrell

Hi Mike

Ahh, I see. Good luck with that ID; not much to see of a cap badge in your photo.

BWEF has it right, there may be a file. Not sure how well versed you are in reading service files but if you wish to PM me his details, I'll have a look for a file for you and see what I can come up with for a Unit.

regards
Darrell

OP will know his grandfathers name, so he ought to be able to see his Attestation papers online.

These papers will give the unit he was with, plus other details like next of kin, home address, trade, religion etc

Hi

Yes, you are correct. He can get his own file.

Not everyone can read them well, though. My offer to Mike was more for interpretation, should he want it, not necessarily just acquiring the file.

Thanks.

regards
Darrell

THAT IS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! (and yes I know my cap lock is on) His record popped right up, even with the false birth date he gave. Many thanks !
