Default 6th Inniskilling Dragoons

Just been given this today by a work colleague who does metal detecting, it has come from a farmers field near Woodstock, the field was once known as “Camp Field” and old uniforms where either left to rot and add nutrients into the soil or where burnt, the button has a black residue from when farmers used to burn the fields off stubble which is not allowed anymore.

Will give it a slight clean later, it appears to be Silver, don’t have a clue regards buttons so no idea on date nor what it was used for? At a guess Mess Waiters? but have no idea, appreciate your comments so I might enlighten the gentleman who passed this onto me! Many thanks Billy
