Default South African Cadets

Hi, Does anybody else collect SA Cadet badges? Or do any of you have any that don't fit in your collection? I have a small collection of these badges. Mainly Cape and Natal, but I am also keen on the Transvaal Cadet titles with the numbers in. There seems to be so little known about these cadet badges, so any comments would be appreciated. Regards Andrew

Looks that way. Hopefully the items will all come in cheap then. Does anybody out there have odd cadet items in their collection that they would like to move on?

Hi Shahl, Wow those are great. I only have the Cradock badge of those three. The only helmet plate I have of the Cadets is the Kimberley cadets. Regards Andrew

Very interesting. The coat of arms on the 'Public School Cadets' helmet plate is the old Grahamstown civic arms, used between 1884 and 1950.

In 1938, Victoria High School became Graeme College, and it adopted a new coat of arms, derived from the civic arms. There might be further cadet insignia bearing the new name and badge.

Also like the Victoria buckle. Only have two buckles. Natal Cadets and Grey Institute Vic buckle so still a long way to go
