Highest Price Realized for a Canadian Badge?
What is the highest price a Canadian badge has made, either at an auction or a sale?
The 9th Bn CEF ebay listing prompted Don to ask, and it is worth some discussion. Perhaps it would be better to split the discussion into the major eras for Canadian badges, pre-1914, CEF, militia period (20-36), kings crown (36-52) and queen's crown. There may not be too much debate about the CEF and king's crown, but the other areas could prove interesting. |

Good case for that badge Doug.
Does anyone remember the price realized on the 7 CMR sold a few years ago? |

The badge on the cover of Charlton 2nd ed. Infantry badges (silver 247th officer's cap badge) sold for $4,000 in 1993 (if memory serves - it is noted in the book but I don't have mine handy). That one could be a record-breaker if it went to aution today!
Cheers, Ian. PS - divide by ten when telling the better half... |
