Default Battledress Jacket

This battledress jacket was given to me recently by a friend. While I recognize the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders flash, I don't know if any further determination regarding the precise unit can be deduced, or whether another formation sign was removed.

Any comments appreciated!

Smile BD jacket

A couple of possible units could have worn this jacket,

7th Argyll And Sutherland in 51st Division which was in 8th Army or 8th Argyll And Sutherland in 78th Division which was in 1st Army.

I take it the Africa star bears no numeral or sign of it.

Without formation signs or perhaps a full name inside, there is nothing to go by here. Cant see any evidence of removal. Has a North Africa star ribbon, but who knows when it was added. Looks like a nice p37 BD blouse however.

Thanks, gentlemen! There is no sign of numeral or device on the ribbon, but it's possible that a formation sign has been removed. There are traces of threads showing between flash and arm of service stripe.

Hey Dob,
Do the thread traces make a square? Both the 51st and 78th unfortunately had approximately the same size square formation sign, but at least that might help to narrow it down!

Roughly square-ish, but maybe more of a rectangle. I'm not sure there's room for a 51st or 78th sign. Might the arm-of-service stripe have been moved?

Another possible clue: This jacket came with another battledress jacket with a home guard "14 NK" sign, and the right sleeve cut off at the elbow...
