Default Help with Royal Sussex Badge

I recently purchased a cap badge if the Royal Sussex Regiment and have been unable to find a reference online. It is a WM badge and the garter is coloured blue. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom,

As far as I am aware, this is an outright fake, but I'm happy to be proved wrong. I do not believe that this badge was ever worn but they abound cheaply on auction websites.

I have one too for reference.

KR,

Pete

I resembles the officer's pattern cap badge, but is of only one piece and missing the red enamel on the cross. Additionally, it is of rather poor quality which indicates that it is likely a fake as previously mentioned.

To David's point, this in no way resembles an officer's badge. These are a different design, material and construction entirely.

The only officer's badges remotely like these in design (shape) are OSD - however, these are bronze finished and on loops or blades for collar or cap respectively.

Officer's badges do have blue and red enamel, but I'm not sure that the blue on this badge is even enamel. I'll check mine.

I have numerous examples of each in my albums for reference.

I hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Pete

I have several officer's badges as well, both OSD and the silver 2 piece enameled. My reference to a resemblance to the officer badges regards the silver and enamel features.
I have to wonder if the subject badge may be a sweetheart or perhaps something like a regimental museum trinket.
I am quite sure it is not any sort of badge actually worn by the Regiment.

Isn't this part of either the danbury or birmingham mint sets?

Not Danbury which are basically 1980s anodised badges with blades. Here showing Queen’s Regiment

Not Birmingham Mint which is the more ornate officers badge.

Well, looks like it will be consigned to the junk box then. You can't win them all. Always better to buy and be disappointed, then to pass up on an unknown badge.
Cheers
