Maybe Merchant Navy medical branch, not all shipping lines have the Loop / knot.

But I have not seen this type before with press studs.

Could be merchant navy 3rd engineer. Difficult to say whether the colour between the stripes is red for medical or purple for engineers. I would say engineering though.
