Default Puzzle monogram Firmin button

Another of those complicated intertwined monograms!

The back is marked, . FIRMIN . LONDON
Brass and diameter is 5/8” (16mm).

Any suggestion would be welcome

Hi Smiffy,

Could you post it again rotated as I think it should be similar to the French circle but without the dot, open at the top, in saying that it may be easier to de-cypher the monogram that way up.
Best

Many thanks for the replies - most helpful.
I've posted image rotated - both orientations - as requested.

There are far too many of these buttons around.

The National Archives holds records of the Neath Pontardawe and Brynamman Railway from 1842-1902.
The railway is mentioned in this article:
https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/GL...urwen/railways

I am sure Mr. Froggatt found provenance for the button listed in his book. Quoting: "Uniform buttons in brass which bore script NPB lettering had nevertheless been produced for the company's staff."
My guess is that he took the information from an old collection or from correspondence. My suggestion: forget about it.

From Wikipedia: "National Provincial Bank was a British retail bank which operated in England and Wales from 1833 until 1970 when it was merged into the National Westminster Bank"
