Two page letter sent by Alexander H Knox 6048 C Coy 10th Black Watch 18/9/16. From Sutton Verny Camp.
Writing to a family member he was billeted with, apologising for not sending a regimental cane but enclosed three regimental officers buttons instead. The letter ends by saying he is going to France as we have been equipped with respirators.
Three buttons by Armfield mounted on a twisted brass wire.

Unusual brass cane top 2" high with 7/8" cane aperture, QVC badge and reverse with a floral design. Probably an ex soldiers civilian cane post Boer War, well used and with polish residue would have been a weighty item complete.

QVS Dunblane glengarry badge.
If your wondering why I include this in BW thread, a great number of Dunblane boys were recruited into both BW Pipes & Drums and brass bands.
Badge note should read 1908-52.

Bronze (shooting?) medallion mounted with WM badge between sprays of oak and laurel. Reverse is blank.

Here is an ORs version in WM from the same die, hands nose and thistle have been polished flat.
