Default Maroon backings

Hi All,

I picked up this Q Services cap badge and WOs sleeve badge, both have a maroon backing; does anyone know the relevance

No significance other than for display purposes. Was very common a few years back to place a colour felt backing to your badge collection to make it 'pop' when displayed.
