Default 5/6 Battalion Gloucestershire cap badge

Hi

Please can anyone kindly suggest whether this one is genuine, I'm not sure about the face?

Many thanks
Martyn

My one is similar to the other example for sale on that site. Brought a good number of years ago, but I have little knowledge on the regiment. Regards, Paul.

He has a number of fake badges including the Lowland Regiment incorrectly described as original. The Glosters does not have anything obviously wrong with it so judge every badge on its own merits would be my advice.

Mines the same, I got it from a good source, so I'd say that's a good badge on the site too.

I'm trying to research the time period for this badge but can't find any specific info. Does anyone know the timeframe when this was worn please?

Many thanks
Martyn

1908-16 by the TF. In 1918 the Volunteer Battalions (former VTC) were entitled to wear it but it is not sure whether it did before the war ended.

This GWF pre war summer camp pic of the 4th Bn Glosters is yet another example of the fact that the 4th Bn wore w/m badges rather than the black ones attributed to them by K&K and Gaylor.

The full photo is here https://www.greatwarforum.org/topic/.../454/#comments

This is both named to the 4th Bn and is pre-war when the TF were buying their own badges.
