Bugle Horn badge
Hi All
Can anyone identify this bugle / powder horn badge? It is white metal so possibly colonial or a volunteer unit. It has a patina like silver but doesn't pass the paper mark test, though it is a very nicely made badge. Possibly going to sell it if it doesn't meet my collecting wants. Cheers, Alex |

Bugle badges
Over the years I think these badges and even ones with numerals have caused collectors headaches in finding out exactly who or what units wore them.
I doubt if there are records for these badges existing, but best of luck finding out. Rob |

Hi Alex,
My initial response would have been DEOV Rifles collar badge pre1898, but your badge appears to be larger, so probably not a collar badge. Steven |

Very similar to a lugged KSLI badge, without the KSLI, but a couple of millimetres too short. Perhaps a Field Cap badge.

Hi Alex,
It does indeed look very like the KSLI pattern - minus the 'KSLI' letters of course. As you say a very well made badge. I have looked through my Shropshire references and can find nothing similar. I will continue to look though just in case something turns up. A nice badge. Cheerio, Roy

Hi Alex,
I just carefully looked through all my KSLI badge (45 different examples) to see if there was any coloration of the die used to make this badge. Nothing I'm afraid. I was hoping that the fine detail in your badge would be a match for one of my (KSLI) badges but I'm afraid not a single match, despite the general appearance being very similar. Cheerio, Roy

Hi Alex,
I thought I would put these two side by side for a comparison. As you can see from a design point they are very close indeed. The size seems to be within a millimeter or two also. This KSLI is an early (three luged) Victorian/Edwardian example. Cheerio, Roy
