The Garrison Battalion badge is not common, but there have been several on the market over the last couple of years. The asking price was considerably more than this badge is bid (at the moment).
What hasn't been seen on the market, and is far more rare in my opinion, is the other ranks plastic version of the Garrison Battalion badge.

It looks like the seller is our member Rod Hill.

The SAS badge he is selling was posted here for information this week in the thread, " LRDG Slip-on Title: Yea or Nay?"

regards

Basic economics. Scarcity and demand. The unit was small and short lived. There were not a lot of badges made, and for the collectors who are trying to put together a collection of all the Canadian badges of the Second World War it is one of the key badges.

Does this mean that a percentage of the sale price is paid into "the Forum" for the advice when a query is used in this way ?? As is advice from valuers/ accountants/ lawyers/ bankers fees etc etc....

Nice looking badge but very expensive.

Can someone explain to me just how, at the moment, u***u can be both the winning bidder at $2500 and the underbidder at $2001 with no apparent automated bids in between. What am I missing?

I think you can bid yourself up if the reserve has not been met on ebay. at 2001 the reserve probably was not met and the next bid at 2500 met the reserve.

Default How much

How much is the plastic cap badge worth. And are there collars for both the other ranks and officers? I would like to put a complete collection together

Hello 121155. Welcome to the B&CMBF.
Only officers' had collars for the Garrison Bn. Collars were not to be worn on battle dress, and Other Ranks wore bd in the SWW.
A plastic badge hasn't been offered in the last couple of years, so ball parking a value is not realistic.

Are there any estimates as to how many badges were made and how many are still around?

For which badge? The officers' pattern, or the OR's?
I am not really sure any sort of reasonable estimate can be made. The officers' badges were purchase items, and not all officers may have purchased them. The other ranks badges were plastic and the nature of the material and the disinterest shown in them by the soldiers leads to a very low "surviveability" rate.
