Here Is An Unlisted And Probably Unaccepted Shoulder Title To The Edmonton Garrison Hq I Believe These Where Made About 1936 And The Pair Are Unissued. No One Has Ever Seen These And I Think They Where Made In England.

Official records indicate that only four units of the Canadian army were authorized cloth titles prior to WW2. The list included the PPCLI, the two infantry Guards regiments (Grenadier and Foot) and the Canadian Provost Corps.
There are a couple of other possibilities. The Corps of Frontiersmen had cloth insignia made for their units. This title may have been for that organization. Another possibility may be post war civil defence. There are many civil defence titles that were used for these para-military organizations.

Seems it must be them dang Frontiersmen then can't be anything else . Does yours appear to be older from the 30s and of English manufacture ?

No it is what we call Canadian made(the embroidery is not diagonal or crude) and it dosn't seem to be all that old. Ray

right big difference in the construction of our badges but similar in colour shape and wording. So they are from the same org.

Some more information that is relative to my first posting. The Legion of Frontiersmen did have an Edmonton Command, among many others in Canada. The colours used by the Legion of Frontiersmen are rust, gold and green. This is consistent with the colours used in both of the flashes that are shown.

I am putting in my bit ref Pre 1939 cloth titles, just to make other collectors aware of one more.

Here is the General Order for the British Columbia Mounted Rifles shoulder title.
They show up occasionally and are usually attributed to the CEF - 2nd CMR BCH.

GO 142/1928
BADGES-BRITISH COLUMBIA MOUNTED RIFLES
1. The following shoulder badges are authorized for the British Columbia Mounted Rifles.
2. Officers: Badges as described hereunder. The Dress Regulations for the Canadian Militia1907, pages 48 and 49, as amended by General Ordert No. 71 of 1922, in so far as they concern the British Columbia Mounted Rifles are further amended by inserting the following:-
“Shoulder Badge-Service Dress
A drab cloth patch with the following thereon:-
Above, “BRITISH COLUMBIA” in an upward curve 3/16 inch letters; below, “CMR” in a downward curve in 3/8 inch letters, in the centre between the two rows of lettering the numeral “2” 3/8 inch high embroidered in yellow worsted”.

3. Other Ranks: Shoulder badges as for Officers.

I am a member of the Legion of Frontiersmen Historical & Archive Section. If these patches were indeed used by the LOF we have never seen them so I find it doubtful.

DEAN , I you say it is doubtful they where used by the LOF . I say there is no doubt they where used by the LOF . And I don't think there is anyone at LOF anymore with the corporate knowledge to make a difinitve statment on these.You are taking on some pretty heavy guns here who have presented good evidence which fits and one should keep an open mind on these things. IMO

Agreed. That puts a new spin on several titles in the same colours. They are all likely Scouts Canada related.
