Afraid I have no knowledge of any books purely dedicated to the badges of the Lancashire Fusiliers. Perhaps others can confirm or allay this.

As to the best book for badge collecting it’s not a schoolboy question at all. The answer depends on your goals and the intended scope of your collection.

What is it you intend to focus on and the period?

John Gaylor’s Military Badge Collecting is a good intro to the hobby, not expensive and contains many illustrated plates. Just don’t buy a reprint post 1997.

Kipling & King Vols 1 & 2 are both very useful references which cover a wide area but are significantly more expensive.

Be aware that since these books were written many research discoveries have been made and myths debunked so they do contain several inaccuracies but are nonetheless still great resources.

`There are very few ORs cap badges for the LF.

The standard bimetal design was first worn with lugs before changing to a slider circa 1903 which was shortened circa 1906 with the new hat's introduction and it stayed that way until 1960's.

In addition there was the plastic WW2 badge and the very scare anodised aluminium badge.

There also exists the fur cap grenade with lugs and a scarce (not worn) slidered version for the Foreign Service Helmet.
