I also have 1/2 dozen of the lugged version, I had assumed they were collars as I have never seen a smaller version.

John, the early lugged ones have very long sword blades, the later are as the slidered example. I suspectvthe later lugged may have been for a belt plate, although they are not the usual lugs for belts. Any ex Juniors out there shed any light?

My version on my collar badge card has 7 mm blades. My Dowler version and lugged badges have 10 mm blades. Struggling to upload photos at present. None are the very long blade type.
Both 7mm collar and 10mm cap badges are the same size. |

From my notes:
Infantry Training Battalions (less Light Infantry Trg Bn) & Infantry Boys Battalion (long swords) ?-1959. Infantry Junior Leaders Battalion (short swords) 1958-? The Light Infantry Training Battalion were to wear the obsolete Ox and Bucks LI cap badge. No reference for collar badges. Marc

On Bess55 card on this thread, the early long sword version is much longer than any of my badges, so there is at least 3 lengths of sword blades.

There are only two patterns; 13048 long swords and 17966 short swords.
Pat No 13048 Cat No CB 2230 Tudor Crown in brass. Pat No 13048 Cat No CB 3154 Tudor Crown in anodised aluminium (may not have been made). Pat No 13048 Cat No CB 3154 St. Edwards Crown in anodised aluminium. Pat No 17966 Cat No CB 3154 St. Edwards Crown in anodised aluminium. Marc I will continue to look.
