It may not even be that, the royal warrant which is strictly controlled is wrong, I did a post on these about 10years ago perhaps more.

There's another where I posted in and the information was from number 2 Buckingham Palace where they administer the royal warrant, the op image isn't a warrant just something that looks like it.

Only your first example is good, the GQ is of the type I enquired about, which was stated as not being a royal warrant.

Default This IS a Gaunt sample card

Had this card for years, most of the badges and buttons are early 1900s Australian, assembled from stock to show varying prices for different finishes. The 1903 3rd Queenslanders is a real gem (universal size for hat and collar), and the first pattern gilt rising sun hat badge shows that it was Gaunt who designed the very first ACMF pattern, which lasted through two world wars until 1948.

That was what I thought , if the card does not mention which monarch the royal warrant was attributed to then it was not official .

The GQ card is of the type I enquired about and was told officially that it wasn't a royal warrant, I was also told it was an offence to use it and strictly administered and controlled in its use, so if Guant held a warrant from 1940 until 2012 why would they put a worthless fake and deceptive piece of card on their product when they had every right to display proudly the real thing.

My colleague has forwarded your recent email to me.

The Royal Arms must always be accompanied by the full 5-line legend

By Appointment to

The member of the Royal Family

The trade description

The name of the company

The location

JR Gaunt held a Royal Warrant from 1940 until the end of 2012 when the Royal Warrant was cancelled. It is illegal for them now to display the Royal Arms on anything.
