Pleasae see this picture of a medal - seems like a soldier with a gun? Nothing engraved on the back. Any idea if a military connection please?

Hi

This type of stylised "rose" setting for the centre button reminds me of a selection of sporting,etc. medals for, of all things, The Glasgow Police College.

However, it seems to be a common element to many medalets from the 1940s and 50s. Most that I've seen have been base metal, plated.
