Cannon pin badge
Could anyone identify this pin badge please? It's slightly longer than a £2 piece.

It could possibly be a ‘Sweetheart Battlefield Brooch’ for WW1. However, I would expect it to bear the name of a battlefield on a scroll and it does look a little bulky to be a decorative piece. The heavy tarnishing indicates age. I would be very interested to see the opinions of others.
Cheers James

Cannon badge
It was found inside a Victorian silver pill box but not sure when it was put there.

It’s a French 75. The 75 was probably the most popular theme for patriotic pins and badges in France during the Great War. Neat piece!

And because of their kick, from around 1915 the French 75 gave its name to a champagne gin cocktail.

Hi
I have a small pressed silver (?) 75mm gun brooch set inside a a monocle arrangement with a piece of tricolore ribbon and what looks like a piece of moss. Must dig it out! |

The only "French 75" brooch I have, about 25mm in diameter, horizontal pin missing.
