...15th Londons Jerry. The 15th had blue facings in their old grey uniform.

thanks Griff, I was happy that others had already id'd the regiment correctly.

I think this style of cap is largely gone before the great war, so would this be for them as a VB or as a TF or either?

.... I saw a BW photo on the forum, not so long ago, showing the 15th Londons on camp (pre WW1) with three forms of headdress in the photo.... the FFSCap being one of them.

cool, I will have to try and find it.

certainly for the vb's & early tf's, the range of headgear suggests I have looked at, suggests some freedom allowed, especially among officers

.... here you go. The Sgt is wearing his badge Fusilier style for some reason (must have been one probably). But the middle chap is wearing his correctly.

Looking in Ripley's Rifle Volunteers buttons book, this button isn't shown. He does show an earlier pattern for the 21st later 12th Civil Service RVCs (Fig210) so yours would appear to be post 1908 TF

Thanks Rob. I did look in that book, but had not worked out the attecedents until I had confirmation of the battalion. I will look at the book later, having been away for work this week.

The 15th London collar scrolls are very distinctive and that’s what on the fsc in the OP

it seems that way. I know it was fairly common to wear the collar on the fsc in this period.

I gave it a gentle buff and it shines up nicely and the lugs appear to be silver, therefore it is perhaps all silver (as CB mentioned) though it is stamped sheet rather than cast.

Churchill states that the collar badge for officers was silver plate, though he specifically talks about the preceding 12th/21st Middlesex rvc but I assume the same applies to the 15th tf
