Default Unusual Military Police Badge

Hi All,

I've just got a couple of these unusual military police badges, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

They are the same size as a collar badge but in the style of the George V cap badge (as far as I know the collar badge didn't come to the RMP until they became RMP in 1946, there was no GvR version) and when you look at where the V should be it just isn't correct.

Obviously they aren't voided correctly and there are no fittings on the back either. I can't make out what they are made of, I don't think they are brass but don't know for sure.

Could these be something someone has been trying to make in the same way as a sand cast cap badge, maybe a prototype for something or something else altogether?

Michael
