5th Royal Irish Dragoons Button
A fairly recent accusation I believe to be Royal Irish Dragoons (1751-1799), flat one piece silver plate. The button back mark is T.B only. Not a pattern Ive seen before.
Any information on this or the disbanded 5th Dragoons would be welcome. All I know is they reformed as the Lancers in 1858. Last edited by Rockfish; 02-03-19 at 01:17 PM. |

This design is illustrated in Parkyn, page 50, No. 42:
... The officers' buttons of the old 5th Royal Irish Dragoons were flat, silver, with the design engraved (Fig. 42) ... I do not have records on this maker. - Thomas Biddell, Drury Lane is not an option, because he is listed from 1807 onwards. The regiment was disbanded in 1799. - Thomas Bolsover, manufacturer of Sheffield Plated goods and buttons https://www.britannica.com/biography/Thomas-Boulsover Last edited by btns; 01-03-19 at 07:33 PM.
