Paul Coates - Yesterday I tried three times to reply to your request. Did I reach you? My message counter says no.

Cool NVR badge

In the latest Bosley badge sale, lot 442 shows a similar badge which they attribute to the Nagpur Volunteer Rifles, I think that many military units wore the same badge albeit at different times.

More likely that Bosleys are wrong in this instance? The NRV badge in their sale is identical to the one being worn by Sgt Tilney in one of the posts in this thread, and I have this badge in my Norfolk collection. How likely is it that two totally separate volunteer units raised in India and Norfolk would wear exactly the same badge?

Sorry Paul, but I have to agree with rob, I have found that cypher type badges, like the Norfolk yeomany badge, are used by other units. There is many photos of the Norfolk badge being worn by Norfolk soldiers, but I have yet to see it being worn on the collar, and yet I have one, so it may be another Regt.

Cool Same badge worn miles apart

I bought a box of badges some years ago which were mainly African although there were some British badges as well, to my surprise there were two 1st Northamptonshire Engineer Volunteer badges among them which I thought was a great asset to my RE collection.

Some while later I found out that this badge was worn by an African unit as well.
