DLI QC HMSS
Hi all,
Latest addition to Durham album - sterling silver Officers QC Durham Light Infantry beret badge (K&K 2016) on long lugs - hallmarked JR Gaunt & Sons Birmingham 1956/7. Just prior to becoming part of the Light infantry Brigade in 1958. I did think that Gaunt didn't start making badges in Birmingham until 1983? Cheers Dean |

Gaunt made badges in Birmingham from the 19th century onwards. It was their office that was based in London until the ?mid 1960s (see Hagwalthers posts on this).
However, what you are referring to on this badge is the anchor mark which means that it was assayed in Birmingham. |
