Nice to see Motors, & I see they didn't get the large patch until they were actually posted to the Pacific Force or 6th Div they calld it here, I haven't heard of it planned as the 6th Div.before ,they previously had a 6th Div.anyone out there know about that & maybe straighten me out on that. Maybe I'm reading it wrong & it was only Volunteers from the 6th. which can't be right because many of the Vet's from other Divisions volunteered while still in Europe. Ray

The replacement battalions consisted of the replacement companies.

This many were needed as the CAPF had to have large numbers of trained soldiers immediately in-theatre. They didn't have the luxury of the European campaign of having Reinforcement Units close-by in the UK.

I wouldn't put too much credence into a contemporary newspaper article as gospel n the issuance and wear of the CAPF patch. "Distinguishing Patches" quotes the actual Routine Order which describes three ways of wearing the patch: full size; half-size on another formation patch, and; half-size worn by itself. Each style had its own qualifying criteria.

Merry Christmas to all

Clive
