Roughly how rare, which country's and which era? Where or how I might suggest you sell it depends a bit on what it is, as would timing.

You could publish the details on the Forum and invite valuations/offers and then decide what to do - sell or take it to auction. You may find that there is a collector on the Forum who has been waiting for the opportunity to buy your particular badge and will offer you the moon and the stars for it. Nothing to be lost and perhaps much to be gained. David

Default Very Rare
The badge is from Boyles Yukon Motor Machine Gun Battery that served with the 4th Canadian Division E Battery, the 1st CDN Motor Machine Gun Brigade CEF. I also have a collar dog which is a fascinating item as it is in the form of a gold panning pan. Both Badge and Collar Dog have real gold nuggets attached to them. The nugget on the collar insignia is roughly four times the size of the one on the badge.

Yes, the gold is real. And I was corrected on the pans. They are collar insignia from the Yukon Infantry Company.

Default Boyles
OK, having looked at this all day, I think what I have is a Boyles Battery OR collar in the crossed MG form and a Yukon Infantry Company collar in the pan form.

I'd say auction would probably bring the biggest price and eBay shouldn't necessarily be discounted depending on the item. One item I sold on eBay last year set a world record price.

I'd offer it here first and see how you go. I'm sure you will get plenty of interest in it here (and no fees!).

You may not get the price you want via auction. Ebay can be very hit and miss at times and the Auction houses will charge you an exorbitant commission to sell it.

Wasn't one of these sold via a Bosleys Public or Postal auction within the last 6/8 months or so....? - for a huge sum....

Ebay, without a second thought! Send it to an Auction house and they'll rake you over and who ever buys it! If it/they as rare as you say then Ebay would be my 1st choice!
