Default Survey Regt (Royal Artillery) markings

A friend of mine wrote this. Thought this group may be able to help...

Looking for some help on Survey Regt (Royal Artillery) markings. This is both for research in photos and videos, and the marking up of vehicles.
The image is cropped from my copy of Hodges 'British Military Markings'. It's tough trying to work out Survey regt markings. Very little written about them generally.
I am specifically trying to work out the markings for Z Troop, 3rd Survey Regt, whilst in Italy. Late 44, XIII Corps. 6 AGRA.
Looking at the examples and info given for Survey I am simply left scratching my head. Any one out there who can help?

Cheers
Richard

Does this help at all? There's also an illustrated history of 6 AGRA which includes sketches of the Surveyors at work. Mike

Hi Richard,

I have tac markings for the survey troops of a svy regt 1941 and 1948. Z Tp didn't exist in 1941 but was under RHQ svy regt when these regts were reorganized into two identical batteries in 1942/1943, and was part of the svy bty of a svy regt/obs regt in 1948.

Was Z Tp identical in organization to X and Y Tps in 1944? As far as I can see the only real difference between 1941 and 1948 svy tps is that left and right sections were differently lettered in 1948 with F and O prefixes, while in 1941 they were all O prefixes.

Alternately, if you are able to get your hands on a copy of Artillery Training, Volume I, Pamphlet No 8, 1943, Deployment of a Survey Regiment, the tac markings for the svy regt shown in Appendix I, Organization for Manoeuvre, will be fairly current for the period you want.

Keith

In fact try this link for 1943. My error, the svy tp under RHQ was X Tp according to this site.

I guess, the right time has already passed. By the way, speaking of surveys, I'm an expert in this field. I started taking online paid surveys when I was studying at college. All my friends had some spare time to take a part-time job, I didn't, that's why I decided to try earning "easy money". Besides, the link I provided here is really helpful in finding the best trustworthy companies offering taking online surveys, I have already worked for Survey2Cash and others.
