Gents, is there any specific reason that this badge has lugs and not a slider?

Or is just the way this particular example was made?

Perhaps like the Welsh Guards badge produced with lugs because Guardsmen in the armoured battalions in WW2 found that slidered badges fell out of their RAC type black berets and got lost in the depths of tanks and their engine bays while carrying out maintenance. Once the badge slider pocket was introduced in berets they returned to using badges with sliders.
