Default AAC patch or something else?

Another mystery, AAC colours, 2x2 inches felt. Is this AAC or could it be a pagri patch for somebody else?
Regards
Sean

LZ/DZ flash for 7 Air Assault / Aviation Support Battalion REME? Based at Wattisham supporting 16 Air Assault Brigade.

I think worn dark blue top left.

Sean,
Sorry, missed the 2" x 2" (50mm x 50mm) sizing so a bit small for a LZ/DZ flash which should be 65-70mm square. Also being made in felt tends to be pre 16 Air Assault Brigade period.

Hi Tim
My mind went to 21 Recce Flight AAC 1960's but when I checked that was light blue over dark blue horizontally not diagonally so maybe it's some sort of pagri flash?

The only diagonal flash I recall is 7 Regt (ta).
Same colours but with VII in maroon in centre.

Default AAC patch

I have also bee told this is a DZ flash for 21 Recce Flt, dating from the 1960/70s.

Default AAC DZ flash

Charles Edwards in his excellent publication on DZ flashes states that a diagonally divided patch with pale blue to the top was worn by;

21 Reconnaissance Flight AAC 1960 -1964
21 Flight AAC 1964 - 1969
664 Squadron AAC 1969 - 1973

In1974 the patch changed to horizontally divided.

Best regards,

Andy

Default AAC DZ flash?

Gentlemen,
I'm going to throw a real curve ball at you on this one. Turn the patch clock-wise 90 degrees, and I believe you have the patch of the famous Australian 4th Light Horse. They and the 12th Light Horse conducted the famous charge at Beersheba in 1917, (celebrated the Centennial in December) and I believe still exist today. A very Happy New Year to all.

Slainte Mhor!

Wrong size, wrong material, sorry Jim.

2 and a 1/2 inches long by 1 and a 1/2 inches wide for 4 Aust LH Regt.

Cheers, Keith

I think it's going to be 21 Recce Flight AAC until I see it as something else.
Thanks everyone
