Simon,
Here is the extract indicating Scouts of the Queen’s Own Oxfordshire Hussars.

Of course this article was written back in 1961 since when additional information has obviously surfaced!

Would it be possible to let me know which issue of the MHS bulletin the illustration is in please, Tim?

Is it plausible that both the 9th/12th Lancers and QOYY shared the same arm badge?

Thats what i was thinking,if it was 9/12 then theirs would have been MOD supplied. The QOYY wouldnt have had that many.

Phone rings in the 9/12 QMs
" Hi,its QM QOYY. Do you have any metal arm badges i can have ?"
"How many ? "
" 40,for a donation to the mess"
" Sure, not a problem,i'll arrange for them to be sent"

The QM then writes off 40 damaged or lost arm badges and the QOYY have their arm badges.

..... the silver plate cap & collar badges, made by Gaunt, of Captain E H Goodhart QOYY formerly of the East Riding Yeomanry (his Blues are dated 1954). It appears he removed the top two loops on the cap badge.

Very nice. Presumably the loops were removed due to the raised band on the cap visible in the first pic.

And finally a QOYY badge made of ‘metal’ (SP) that I would buy!

...... there will be, in the ether, a Gaunt Car Badge for the QOYY. The enamel will have the regimental colours, shown below, with the chrome badge attached ...also shown below. Might also have just a plain blue enamel background as seen on the Regimental Plaque.

You’ve done a great job in a very short space of time Griff.

Thank you for taking the time to put things together; it’s a very informative and most useful resource.

....one more thing.

I have hunch that there will be an ORs strike that has a "back image" that looks closer to the "back image" of the Officers badge. With the large J.RGAUNT LONDON makers mark. So if anyone has this in their collection could they post it up here please

* Also looking for images of a Hallmarked Silver version (IF it exists).

Officers S/P

[POSSIBLY A MISSING ORs STRIKE]

Other Ranks White Metal
