Default Cloth finds from this weekends show

Was able to get to a show this week in Dayton Ohio. Sponsored by the American insignia collectors society..Mainly a U.S insignia show however there is always a small amount of British and Canadian. This being a representative sample of what I might find. A couple unknowns in the group. The small circular Bomb Disposal looking piece and the IAR title. The title I am assuming to be Indian but unsure beyond that. Any ideas on these two??

Thanks
Jack

Jack,

The BD is believed to be the earliest pattern of the well known 'falling' bomb BD badge.

I have an identical one.

regards

Some nice WW1 slip on shoulder titles in that lot all look to be original.

There is no evidence that the small round bomb is the first pattern BD badge although it has been rumoured to be for some time. I'd be interested in seeing any evidence if it can be found.

I like the Force 281/Dodecanese Force badge, an uncommon item.

The "bomb badge" is shown in "British Army Proficiency Badges as early pattern but I can't remember if there is any further info. about it.

Edit - 86X -described as " ...an interesting curio........believed to be an even earlier pattern of the BD badge but had not been proved to be so" (that is, earlier than the rectangular badge bearing the bomb with two black rather than blue rings).

Dodecanese Force is a particularly desirable item - an interesting operation at the tail end of the Second World War. Some information and good images in the link. Mike

Thanks for the comments and additional information. 2 RSM badges one with KC on Red and one with QC in silver wire on Green. Had not seen a silver wire version before.
Best
Jack
