Default lugs or slider

I have been looking at Cheshire volunteer regiment badges kk1605
one is lugged & one with slider which as the correct fittings.any thoughts

Though I'm not sure what 1605 is I can tell you that loops were the norm from the inception of VB cap badges in c 1896. There was a WO order of 1906 that loops were to give way to the 'vertical shank' (what modern collectors call 'sliders'). There are VB badges known in both fixings though most are loop[s, In 1908 you stuill find loops being used on the new TF badges. Regular units stationed in India still used loops - because they were still using the FSC (side cap).



So - both are correct, nice to have both !

The Chshire Volunter Regiment badge was not provide by the army but bought by the unit themselves so all rules are off. However I wold expect them to have had one method of fixing.

The badge is a VTC badge which was formed in 1914, it was worn as a cap badge.
