Default East Lanc Officers Badges

Hi All,

I'm trying to make a uniform jacket for my relative in the photo and am after a bit of help. His 3rd wound was in March 1918 which is the period I'm going for, he was hospitalised and never went back to the front.

I've got his cap and collars, am I right in thinking he would be wearing bronze pips on the shoulders by this time?

I'm going to get 3 wound stripes, would he be wearing medal ribbons at this time?

Thanks for the help,

Michael

He might be wearing the 1914/15 star ribbon and any gallantry award.

Thanks for the help, unfortunately he didn't get that one, do you know when they would have got the ribbons for the other two?

I don't think he was discharged until 1919, how quickly would he have put his 3rd wound stripe on? Were they private purchase or issued?

Thanks again,

Michael

Did officers wear an overseas blue chevron per years service?
Tony.

I hadn't thought about that. Thank you.

He joined the 4th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers as a private soldier on the 9th of Dec 1915 and didn't go overseas until the 9th of July 1916. He was commissioned in July 1917 so I suppose if officers wear them he would have had two blue ones?

The British War Medal was introduced in July 1919 and the Victory Medal in September 1919.
