Default Shanghai Police badge???

This photo is from the net.

Caption: Prisoners in Cangues and Exercise Cages, Louza Police Station, Shanghai -

From the book- Shanghai by Maz Nossler - 1907

Can anyone identify the badge worn by the policeman/guard?
