Hi Dominique, Does the badge show evidence of having been on the cap for some time? As the badge is a Scully made RAAF there is a good chance it was an Aussie training in the BCATP.

These caps were issued in blue/grey to RAF, RCAF and RNZAF trainees. Badges were also produced for all three by Sculley in Canada and issued as needed. These caps are seen with and without badges, I don't believe it was regulation to affix a badge to these caps, more personal preference.
In the case of the RAAF, they had dark blue caps issued to match their midnight blue uniforms. The badges were 'bronzed form as here. If this is original to the cap, the cap should be dark blue not blue grey. The blue/grey type are often sold with RAF, RCAF, RNZAF and RAAF badges but the RAAF are incorrect on that colour. Your photos appear to show a blue/grey cap. If so, the RAAF badge is incorrect. I know of only one dark blue cap with RAAF badge, with a friend in Australia.

Yukon Caps
The question I have to ask then is were Yukon Haps, like the one illustrated here and earlier in the post by Dominique manufactured in Canada in RAAF dark blue or were they manufactured in Australia? If not the Yukon Hat, then what type of hat was provided?

All trainees were issued uniform in their native country first, so RAAF trainees were issued uniform in Australia, RAF trainees issued uniform in the UK and so on. Each would have undergone basic training in those countries before sailing to Canada for aircrew training.
In Canada stocks of locally made items such as cap badges, were produced as there was always a need for replacement items and such like. Cold weather clothing was also provided for the duration of their stay, such as these caps, which was returned to stores upon returning to, or sailing on to, the UK. I have the respective regulations and somewhere also a photo of RAAF trainees wearing these cold weather caps in dark blue which I'll try and add. One question I've not answered is whether these were produced especially for the RAAF (which I suspect was the case) or if they were Canadian Navy items.

Winter Caps
SAS1; everything you have posted about the wearing of national uniforms and the manufacture of insignia matches what I have deduced from period photographs and surviving examples.
Although metal RAAF cap badges were manufactured by Scully, I have yet to find any evidence that RAAF dark blue cloth insignia was manufactured in Canada. Likewise I have yet to find any evidence that RAAF uniforms were manufactured in Canada, even winter hats. Since we are discussing winter hats I have not found any evidence that the RCN employed the Yukon Hat. My posted photographs show the RCAF version of the Yukon Hat and there was also an Army one as well. Now the RCN did use a dark blue peaked winter cap which in no way resembles the Yukon Cap; which may have been issued to the RAAF for winter use although photographs of whatever hat the RAAF were wearing would certainly help clear up any speculation.

Canada did indeed produce insignia for wear on RAAF uniforms while here in Canada (although relatively scarce!). This piece in my collection is 100% Canadian Made, and is distinctly coloured (both wool and threading) for an Australian uniform. Somewhere on my PC I have photos of a Yukon Hat that is the distinct dark blue RAAF colour and has C Broadarrow stampings.
