Grotty old Plaid Brooch
Hi Gents,
Found this tired, abused old plaid brooch in my crap/unknown box. Slight cleaning to the front revealed Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders on the scroll. Further cleaning on the rear revealed a very shiny silver surface but no markings, cleaning on the rim uncovered the same. I have always been intrigued with the heaviness of the brooch and now wonder if it could be silver. The weight is 4.5 oz I would welcome any comments or opinions even if it is to tell me that I wasted £2.50 on an impulse purchase.................again |

The fittings are missing, but I quite like it.
I'd keep hold of it ,maybe have the fittings repaired and have it cleaned . Does the hole under the crown go all the way through ? Last edited by Mike H; 08-07-20 at 03:34 PM. |

I wonder if some hooligan has nailed it to a plaque of something.

Argyll's mate - hard as nails, didn't use lugs on badges, nailed 'em on.

Not so Grotty now
Hi Gents,
After a liberal application of Brasso and elbow grease the ugly duckling has turned into a swan.................... Black bit at the bottom is a reflection of my camera for effect. Kevin |

Gents,
Thanks, very happy with my £2.50 outlay now, it`s been a long time since I`ve basked in the heady smell of Brasso. Kevin |
