Default 16 CAMC Title

Amongst the large collection that I have recently bought was this brass title. 16 over CAMC, I assume that it is CEF but it there is no mention of it in Charlton. Can any of the Canadian Gurus confirm or otherwise please. Any information glady received.
Many thanks in advance

Paul L

Hello Paul, The CAMC was the Canadian Army Medical Corps, and it existed as a corps from 1904 until 1936. To confuse the issue, there was a Permanent CAMC (1904 - 1919) which was then granted the "Royal" designation. This was the corps in the permanent army. There was also the CAMC component of the militia or reserves, and this existed until 1936, when it to was granted the "Royal" designation. Units of the CAMC served in the CEF, 1914-1919. It is possible that the title was for a medical company from any of these. I will try to do some more digging.

Default 16 CAMC

As listed in a 1915 Canadian Militia List, No 16 Cavalry Field Ambulance was a Non-Permanent Active Militia unit located in Winnipeg. Like other NPAM units, it contributed staff to the Canadian Expeditionary Force but was not itself mobilized for active service. It was organized in 1906 and reorganized on 1 July 1921 as No 3 Field Ambulance.
