Default Modern ACF Cap Badge

Hi Guys,

I understand that there is a modern and generic ACF cap badge.

Would someone be able to post images of it for me to take a look at.

Images of both the front and back of the badge would be of great assistance.

Regards

Chris

Such an idea has been floating around since the late 1980s and early 90s at least and was (as far as I know still is) greeted by a resounding raspberry from adults and cadets alike.

The nearest they got to it was scrapping the arm-specific coloured ACF titles and replacing them with the vile yellow on red (and far more cheaply made) generic ACF titles.

Staffsyeoman is absolutely right, and I recall 'The Soldier' magazine ran an article on the subject some years ago, to which the response (including my own contribution) was a resounding NO to a cap badge common to all cadets, on the grounds of the cadet's loyalty to a specific regiment.

There actually IS a generic ACF cap badge in existence, it is worn by members of some ACF bands, I have never managed to see one in the flesh but have seen photos of it being worn ( in army cadet magazine)

Indeed, ACF units wear the Cap Badge of thier sponsoring unit. In North Yorkshire we have detachments mainly wearing the Yorkshire Regiment cap badge.

I have only ever seen the ACF badge on letterheads, noticeboards, band banners but not cap badges etc

OC14 - Can you scan one of the pictures of one of these badges in wear please

Hi PL,

Yes. I'm looking for examples of the cap badge worn by The Army Cadet Force Pipe and Drum Band and also The Central Band of the Army Cadet Force.

I am informed that it is the:

'...authorised Army Cadet Force cap badge...'

I'm guessing it is as per the examples shown here but would like to see obverse and reverse images of it if possible to confirm what is actually worn by these two groups of musicians.

Regards

Chris

I am really confused right now, you have provided an image of a badge that you state doesn't exist !!!!

By the way, that is not the Central Band of the ACF, the band pictured is that of Cambridgeshire ACF (Royal Anglian badge on drum, Light blue/Dark Blue TRF type badge being worn by adult volunteer in foreground and red and yellow cadet shoulder title Cambridgeshire ACF cloth title are being the indicators.

Here is another photo of the non existent badge being worn (with non existent collar badges and buttons)

My go....odness. The obstacles we faced trying to establish a small band in a corner of London (so much so, combined with pressures of work, I gave up and resigned) - and now we have a 'Central Band of the ACF'. Godspeed and good luck to them, but in an era where training areas can't be found, instructors go unpaid due to budgetary pressures... things are slightly out of whack.

What a singularly uninspired badge too; looks like a blown up letterhead.
