M.M. Corporal ,1st Battalion ,auckland Regiment
London Gazzette ,11 Febuary 1919.
''For continuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field during operations extending 27.7.18 to 29.8.18.Throughout the whole of this period he has shown great skill and gallantry in the handling of his section.Particularly at the time of the battalions entry into Bapume, this N.C.O who was in charge of two sections ,led his men brilliantly in the face of heavy enemy machine gun and shellfire and succeded in establishing posts in forward positions which were later supported by other sections and proved of immense value in subseqeunt operations. His leadership and disregard of personal safety throughout have been of a very high order and have served as a inspiration to his men'
Certainly a relative to be proud off.
