Default Airborne, 101 Commando, Glider lot

Hello everyone,

I picked these up today and I have identified most of them except for the Lion one. I think the 101 Commando may be good. The South Staffordshire Glider was pullled from a board and there is paper/ glue on the back. I’m not sure what the Commando St. EX is.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Keith

Thank you very much! Any idea on the Commando St EX? It’s done in bullion.

It’s 101 Troop No. 6 Commando.

Not my thing but it does not match the known originals shown on here. I’m quite confident it’s the type which has previously been ascribed as a 1970s copy.

Am sure those in the know will confirm.

British Army Singapore District:

Malaya Command

With the Surrender of Japan, the command was re-formed from the 14th Army with its HQ based in Singapore on 1 November 1945. The command was divided and downgraded to two separate military districts; the Malaya District and Singapore District in August 1947 but was upgraded again into a full command in August 1950 due to the Malayan Emergency.

101 Troop, 6 Commando a definite duffer - nothing like the quality or representation in an original. Confirming views of Steve and Luke.

FRANCE looks OK but not 'serif' pattern generally worn in 10 (Inter-Allied) Cdo - but does appear like this in some images. I see similar comment from Normandie 18 already.

You have me beaten with the COMMANDO / St. X - I would love to know what it is. If ever you part with it let me know - I collect such queries along with the better known Commando items. Bullion may suggest Far East if not a complete fantasy piece.

Thank you everyone, I appreciate the responses.

Here are close ups of the Commando and South Staffordshire. I was able to get the glue and paper off the back.

Hello Mike and all,

Sorry for my poor English ?
This badge is French and post war.
All explanation below but in French
Greetings

"The French Phalange was a far-right French organization created in 1955 by Charles Luca (pseudonym of Charles Gastaut), nephew of the wife of Marcel Déat, and dissolved on May 15, 1958 by decree of the Pflimlin government.

In 1947, Charles Luca created the Commandos de Saint-Ex, a movement organizing “apolitical” summer camps with the aim of performing tasks of public interest – the participants thus fought against forest fires in the Landes in 1947 or help rebuild an abandoned village — but which quickly turn into military training camps for several hundred neo-fascist and counter-revolutionary militants, usually very young. Their watchword was: “Discipline – Fraternity!” » ; their motto: “There are no obstacles that a guy from Saint-Ex cannot overcome!” ". In November 1949, the Commandos of Saint-Ex were dissolved by the Minister of the Interior Jules Moch, for disturbing public order. They are immediately reconstituted, around Luca,

On June 17, 1956, Luca attended the founding meeting of Otto Strasser's Deutsche Soziale Union. Among the delegation of 8 people, appear Henri Roques, as speaker, and Frédéric Becker, member of the national office of the French Falange.

Dissolved on May 15, 1958 by a decree of the Pflimlin government at the same time as Jeune Nation, the Revolutionary Patriot Party of Me Jean-Baptiste Biaggi and the National Action Front, the organization was immediately reconstituted under the name of French Popular Movement, created on June 16, 1958 and whose founding congress was held on December 20 and 21, 1958 — due to the winter solstice — in the premises of the Yacht-Club d'Herblay. The French Popular Movement was dissolved in the summer of 1960.

Huge thanks Marievictor - superb information, and very much what this forum is about. It is good to learn new things - I had no idea about this organisation - and the appropriation of the word 'COMMANDO' - Merci Mike

Mike Vee - thanks as ever for your helpful translation

Keith - although not military - I would be interested in acquiring this title if ever you wished to part with it.

Regards
Mike
