Hello Kingsman,
Thank you for the reply and for pointing me towards your thread. I thought the fixing unusual and hoped that this might indicate a genuine badge – but no doubt the fakers are one step ahead! Kind regards, Malcolm. |

Malcolm,
I'm not suggesting your badge is a fake, I am 100% certain my Loyals badge is 'pukka' however establishing the usage VB, Territorial, Band etc. of this particular variation has as yet not been established. Tom b. |

Hello Tom,
I have read the thread concerning your badge with interest. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. For what it is worth the example I illustrated the lug and blade appear to be original fittings with no sign of any alterations. Kind regards, Malcolm. |

Cheshire Yeomanry
Just thought I'd share pics of this nice little set I picked up at Stratford from Dixon, little bit of a clean up on the front & they came up lovely, a good result from a good day out.

hi Iain,
Is the coronet separate as well? I have just looked at mine (BM) and it is a slightly different pattern. I was just wondering if the plumes might be WM just very dirty? I ask this only as I was given a Cheshire R. all brass badge which was actually BM. Just an Idea. Andy |

Hi Andy,
its for sale through an internet dealer so I only have photos but the plumes don't appear to be made separately. I asked the dealer if it was a BM badge and he says not, but you can see it needs a good clean. There have been instances where the same dies have been used to make BM badges as well as to make all brass badges; maybe this is one of those? Iain

Iain,
this badge does come in all Gm and in two parts, alas IMO the one you are showing is a copy and not a badge I would buy or sell as Genuine! The shape of the feathers is typical of the standard "Fake" 3 feathered badges, it lacks detail to the coronet (which is oversized too) and the slider ain't right either! Only my opinion of course but my advice would be to PASS on this particular badge. A genuine example is shown below, note the "Greenish/Brown" colouration, which is always a good sign for this particular badge! Andy Last edited by 2747andy; 22-10-11 at 11:50 AM. |

Martingale ? One of the most interesting exhibits at the Cheshire Military Museum in Chester is a full size horse "dummy" complete with all the saddlery, bridle etc for the Cheshire Yeomanry.
Well worth a visit for that as well as the other exhibits. http://www.cheshiremilitarymuseum.co...-yeomanry.aspx P.B.

Is this a good one?
I dont think it is good, these particular POWs have been repro'd (if not the original die). The Gaunt mark is a wrong'un as well by the looks of it?

Picked this up at the weekend, did a quick search and found this thread, so thought I would post it here. As you can see this is a complete "bit". The badges are cast brass with seperate w/m die struck P.O.W plume.

This is my recent purchase. It is a variation of the Cheshire Yeomanry badge. I have never seen one before but it is one shown in K&K Vol 1 so I snapped it up.
I am presuming that it is a pre WW1 badge before the WD started issuing them and standardised the design. Last edited by Alan O; 30-06-14 at 11:47 AM. |
