I have never seen an "IY" version? We have many of them at the mueseum and the Squadron and this is a detail either overlooked or we just dont have one? Do you have a scanned picture of one that you can post on this thread? They were collars initially and then worn as cap badges on Blues at a later date. We have pictures of Officers wearing them c1913 as Cap & Collar badges in Kahki. We also have two "Other Ranks" blues caps with the w/m thin crest and numerous c1930's blues jackets with the thin crest collars. We learn new things everyday and if this is the case (IY in the scroll) then we have a new badge to collect!

Hi ncc
Well...... I am corrected..... and thank you very much for the addition. We genuinly dont have this badge in our collections and this is obviously the collar badge c1907. This would mean that after 1910 a new badge was struck for both collar and cap. This will be a rare one for us as only the officers would have worn these and I can imagine that nearly all of these badges are in collections. Thank you very much

Hi All
Correction on the type of metal on the above officer collar badges...... having spent much time cleaning them today..... I have discovered that they are infact "SILVER" (more probably a silver alloy as they are not hallmarked)... I left them in Goddards silver dip for half an hour..... this was enough time to clean possibly 70 years of grime off them!! I had been using Brasso and Jif cream with a soft tooth brush...... but the Silver dip just cleaned them to a sparkle. How chuffed am I

Hi All
Here is a picture of the collar badges after the silver dip..... BIG THANKS to "ncc" (forum member) who educated me about these ..... if it wasnt for him showing me the K&K entry for the collar badges I would have been none the wiser

Temporary Badge Board LYPAO
Just made this up today as a temporary board for filling with "finds"..... when I have accumulated the majority of Cap, collars, Shoulders, Buttons and others I will get them professionally mounted in date period show cases.
You have to collect the varients as well Gilt, Bronze, White Metal, Silver etc..... so by the time thats done.... with makers mark varients..... there should be quite an impressive collection. There will be some gaps for the "hard to come by" badges...... but I can wait. Shown: PAOLYC Undress Pouch Badge (top); Gilt LYPAO Officers Cap (1939-57); Bronze LYPAO Officers Cap (c1928-39); Brass LYPAO O/R Cap (c1939-57); Gilt LYPAO O/R Cap (1908-15); Gilt LYPAO O/R Collar (1908-15); Brass Great War GS Button (As per LYPAO O/R c1913-19). 16th Lancers = B Squadron, LYPAO 1918-19; 4th Hussars = C Squadron LYPAO 1918-19; 7th Queens Own Hussars = Affiliated Regiment 1915-57; Silver LYPAO Collar Badge 1908-27, (two LY Buttons until other Collar turns up); 1st Life Guards (tangs) c1914-15; 2nd Life Guards (tangs) c1914-15 (3rd cav Div, 7th Cav Bde c1914-18). **Missing on the board is 5th Lancers to represent A Squadron LYPAO c1918-19. **UPDATED IMAGE** Here are a couple of other "metal" boards..... I have quite a few bullion badges also but I dont know how to mount those yet. BTW 7th Hussars = Affiliated LYPAO & 9th/12th = Affiliated LDYPAO (HKVols = Last Brit Border Patrol B Sqn RY) All mounted without bending sliders etc

Today I have confirmed that K&K1318 was definatley used as a cap badge c1914. I have actually held Colonel P C Evans-Freke's WW1 Field Service Dress Cap..... and K&K1318 is still firmly in it (its just as black as my pair were when I first got them....and made in exactly the same way).
Post 1915 there is a new pattern for the officers (not classified in K&K's books)

This is the "Silver" collar badge that came after KK1318 (above) and was used from 1908-27. It is an "Un-classified" badge not in "the books".

This badge was made for the Officer's of the LYPAO 153rd & 154th Field Regiments of the Royal Artillery. It was also worn by post war officers of the LYPAO Hussar Tank Regiment RAC until amalgamation with the Derbyshire Yeomanry in 1957. This cap badge was made for the Service Dress Cap and has long loops approx 15mm. Its "possibly" the same type of cap badge seen in Lt. J A KINCAID's SD Cap seen in the pic below. "Captain" Kincaid was one of the first Officers in the 154th to receive an award, it was the Military Cross, the unidentified LY Gunner received the Military Medal.

7th Cavalry Brigade Yeoman LYPAO & NSY
This is a great photo and one that is very interesting...... the date of the photo is late WW1 "Possibly" around the demob date?
Leicestershire (PAO) Yeomanry & North Somerset Yeomanry (or ASC.... The LYPAO did have men in the ASC) I deep scanned this photo at 600dpi that gave me a file over 100mb...... so you can see the kind of detail that I have got. What I found on closer inspection is that three Troopers are wearing what appears to be the badge below and the NCO's are wearing the earlier "economy".

I have other tie-pin types.... but they don't mount on a board very well.

I received this collar badge today...... its a "plated" metal badge...... and I am sure that its a post 1952 collar badge. K&K refer to this badge as "Gold Anodised"
Love to hear other opinions on this badge The picture does give the impression that it looks cleaner...... its not ... its got patches of plate still on the face of the badge ..... the rear of the badge does still have a good bit of gold (yellow metal) plate in it......
