Hi All
Is this badge good or bad? Planning on moving it on if it is ok. Solidly made and it has a very slight rounded shape.
Thanks in advance, cheers,
Alex

That does look brand new, awful slider and smooth reverse.

That must be the photo. The badge has nice toning, crisp and deep stamping to reverse.
Cheers,
Alex

Link to album, the N.E Lancs badge is completely different to the badge in post #1......and listed as Ex HK.
Simon can you elaborate on your dismissal of this badge?
Regards Tony.

The HK one is very different to the fake. Note yet again a fake with hollow outlines for jewels in post #1. Whereas the HK badge actually has jewels and what appear to be sharper lettering unlike the stereotypical ToyRUs rounded lettering of the badge in the opening post.

I would say the HK one is the real deal.

Should have said the badge from post #1 is straight out of the Martin Marsh catalogue.

As alluded too previously all the hallmarks of the 1970s fakes, rounded lettering, coarse seeding, hollow jewels, generally poor rendering of animals/features. The back as well has very poor definition, whilst it may be deeply struck the crispness of the reverse die is either poor or not enough force has been applied i.e. a non-industrial fly press etc. and lastly that slider is very modern.

I have original badges and therefore can tell instantly whether a badge is genuine or not.

In order not to devalue my rare badges I will not say why but those of you who I know I will PM you the reason.

regards

Certainly can't see any problem with the photography!

Sometimes the flash makes badges looks flat and hides the ridges and shadows which give it the more detailed effects.

Photo is actually very good indeed and shows the badge concerned to be completely spurious, the manufacture is clearly modern.
