Default Possible Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry Cap Badge or is it?

I am going through my Dad's boxes (which I haven't sorted properly since his death years ago) and there are a stash of badges, some of which are a bit of a mystery. This one attached was reputedly a RWY cap badge. Trouble is it has atypical pin type fasteners which I was not expecting, lugs yes pins no. It is too bulky and heavy to be a 'collar dog'. Has my old man misidentified this badge? As to provenance, not a clue, he was a REME armourer and you know they can be real 'pack rats'. Anyway I would be grateful of the assist. Regards Chris.

I know this is older than the amalgamation of the 10th and 11th Hussars, so possibly a 10th Hussar officer's collar badge, don't know. The spike fasteners have thrown me as I would have expected normal ring lugs.

Could well be a 10th Hussar officer’s collar badge. A few collar badges with clutch pin fittings were around in the 1960s. Back then officers were required to purchase their uniforms and insignia from military tailors and variations existed.

See this thread https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ghlight=Loyals

Shows Loyals and Lancastrian Brigade collar badges with clutch pin fittings from the 1960s -early 1970s.
