Hi BC,

An interesting looking badge. No idea I'm afraid but I will watch with interest to see if someone knows.

Cheerio,

Roy

No idea at all, but the motto is something like "Serene but watchful".

Is the animal a wombat, or perhaps a capybara, or something?

Intriguing...

The well known Combat Wombat Brigade!

Seriously, a tiny voice in the back of my mind is saying 'South African'. But then the tiny voices often give me bad ideas. The judge says I'll be out in 6 months. I think I may be imagingin that it is a rock hyrax. and perhaps one of the support groups, hence the not so belligerent motto.

The animal looks like a South African rock-rabbit or 'dassie' (rock-hyrax) but I'm not at all familiar with the badge so can't help.
Cheers,
Alex

If it is a Rock Hyrax, then the search should cover most of Africa and include the Middle East as well. Looks typically British made badge, so maybe relates to a country that was under the British Commonwealth at some point in time.
Also been made of white metal may point to a Police unit.

I doubt it is Southern African, so we could rule out at a few countries like South Africa, SWA, Rhodesia's, etc

I agree, Milmed, that it's likely an African member of the Commonwealth/former empire but that doesn't narrow it down much. Why not southern Africa, if I may ask?

Hi BC,

The mystery continues..!

It's a rare day that the forum members can't nail down a badge. I'm rather intrigues myself and love a mystery, so will continued to peek about.

Cheerio,

Roy

"Soft but watchful".... hence the soft fury vigilant Hyrax (thats probably what it is)

So an American collar badge possibly ...... could be air force or some kind of Intel unit.
