Cheshire economy
Hi All,
just received this Cheshire all brass economy badge. Would value opinions as I have concerns about the colour of the slider and the brazing of slider onto badge. Many thanks in advance, Mark |

It’s a very obvious repro. For the reasons you mention plus very modern slider. But damningly the same die flaws between the star and scroll as this ‘made yesterday’ repro. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/British-A...5d0a%7Ciid%3A1
Same flaws visible on the MM repro. Disappointing a well known dealer has sold this. Last edited by Luke H; 14-04-20 at 07:09 PM. Reason: Added eBay listing pictures for future reference once link dies |

I don't normally comment on badges, but as I collect to the Cheshire regiment in my opinion it's a duff badge. The bottom three points of the star should cleanly touch the scroll and not have all the excess material

Many thanks for all comments. Will return the badge but suprised that these faults got past this particular dealer..
Be safe, Mark |

Well, there are lots out there - the WO ordered 22,000 Cheshire GM badges in April 1916 - and there may have been further orders!

It is worth while to remember that slider. It is the classic fake and you will recognize it on other badges to avoid.
There are many genuine ww2 sliders that are very similar, but the angle of the bend and color are what gives this away. CB

Nothing surprises me anymore, sadly, there are people who do not seem to care.
