Default KOYLI-WHITE METAL

Hi all. I have a question.

Is an all white metal version of the KOYLI a volunteer battalion or simply some later version of the brass and white metal rose version.

Regards

Simon.

Simon,
they're a later version and faked to death, look for one with either a good Maker Marked slider (not M&B or Gaunt B'Ham) or a slightly thinner (width) and tapered slider!

Hi Simon, see bottom right, as noted by Andy smaller slider marked Dowler Birmingham.
Cheers Tony.

Thanks for the input chaps. As it's possibly from the 50's it's out of my area of collecting. It looks like a good one as I can see the braze etc.

Cheers

Simon.

It is correct to say an all wm KOYLI badge was worn in the 50`s but the volunteers pre 1908 also wore wm badges. I have attached an officers silvered as well as an officers 2nd VB with scroll. There is very probably also an all wm OR badge without scroll from this period as well.

Cheers Dave

A very common badge and normally merely plated brass!

Frank,
I would not say "Common" as KOYLI badges in general are nowhere near as available as some other County Regiment badges! My example appears to be Wm and not plated, I've scratched a gouge in to the rear and no sign of a Gm underbelly?

LOL Andy,
Perhaps you have a rare example then?

This is the one I was looking at that prompted my question.
