Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders of Canada printed variation
Recently, a modified canvas title for the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders came into my hands. It was the same as the standard issue printed title for the unit, but it had been modified to the "T" shape by removing material from the sides of the title. This appears to be a post production modification, not a variety. The title came from the estate of a veteran, and there were a couple of these in the accumulation. Neatly and cleanly done. Canvas titles were not supposed to be modified, as it destroyed the edge bonding. Interesting modification.

I don't think RSM McGinlay would agree with you Bill...........I know that some had more leeway than others..... Jo http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/d...oviqqavs023t31

Hi Jo, There were melton and starch back titles in the "T" shape as well. It is hard to tell if the titles on that tunic are melton or printed. It would be evidence to support a regimental sanctioned modification. The order re no modifying came from higher levels, in fact it was a CARO, issued in 1943. It may have been long forgotten by the summer of 1945.
