Default RAF Officer three-piece metal cap badge

For your kind attention, of what period and purpose would this three piece officer cap badge be from? It measures 68 mm high X 55 mm wide (outer dimensions of the black backing). One tends to find, I believe, the embroidered badge with metal eagle in greater use. Thank you.

with kindest regards to all,

Tim

I believe this to be an Australian (from style of eagle) version of an economy badge from WWII era.

Ahah! It is quite different from the other economy versions that I have that I know to be British and Canadian. What you say makes perfect sense. Thank you very much.

with best regards,

Tim

Thank you, Steve. I'm still learning the nuances of the small design differences so your observations are appreciated.

with kindest regards,

Tim
