FRONTIERSMAN BADGE
I have come into procession of a FRONTIERSMAN anodised badge with maker mark SMITH & WRIGHT LTD on the slider.
Is this a British organisation or Canadian?? I have seen Canadian badges with the Beaver on the top but this has a crown. Jerry DSCF0004.jpg DSCF0005.jpg

The Badges of the Frontiersmen.
Scroll down to picture #9. Regarding Canadian Badge : "In 1939 the Canadian Division of the Legion of Frontiersmen broke away and they changed the mural crown to a beaver."

Was there a conclusion to this. I have resurrected this old thread as I have an anodised collar that would go perfectly with the cap badge that Jerry shows.
But from Mike's post it is implausible that an anodised badge with mural crown would exist if the design changed in 1939. I also don't rate the Smith & Wright makers mark on Jerry's Badge. So my conclusion would be, anodised copies of a pre-1939 metal badge and collar. All done to deceive. Mark |
